Exeter, Torquay or Plymouth
£ competitive day rate, flexible hours with hybrid working
2-3 months duration
About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced Consultant or Locum Residential Property Lawyer to provide immediate support to the team during a busy period. The existing caseload is a blend of good quality residential property matters and you will be expected to manage your files with relative independence from the outset. You will be supported by a Legal Assistant on administrative matters, and work with the Partner on complex matters as required.
The Partner has worked hard to create a genuinely enjoyable and collaborative Residential Property team where everyone is encouraged to ask questions, speak up when help is needed, and share resource to ensure that colleagues have manageable workloads whilst every client receives the best possible service. You will be supported by a Legal Assistant who is familiar with your caseload, and has knowledge relating to each client and file.
As a Consultant/Locum Lawyer, you will have the option to work from offices in Exeter, Torquay, Totnes or Plymouth with hybrid working. The requirement is likely to be for a duration of 2-3 months but to an extent, this will depend on how things progress once underway. There may be the option for a permanent opportunity if this was of interest.
About you
As an adaptable and experienced Residential Property Lawyer who is seeking flexible temporary work, you will have several years’ UK based post qualified experience, with the ability to independently manage a varied, good quality caseload at the outset. You are technically skilled and feel confident handling complex matters, listening to your clients and providing clear, commercially appropriate and relevant advice every time. The team around you will be keen to provide support and will encourage you to ask questions as you learn their systems. You’ll be flexible and may prefer to work set days each week, or plan from week to week depending on workflow. Our client is proud of its collaborative culture, and you will be a positive team member and a good communicator in order to give the best possible service to colleagues and clients.
Being resilient to work under pressure by organising yourself effectively, you will be able to meet deadlines as needed. You will possess proven rapport building skills and you are tenacious, thorough, and attentive to detail, taking pride in the high standards of your work.
