The firm’s continued success now means that they have an opportunity for an Associate to join their Private Wealth team in Exeter.

 

About the role

The Private Wealth team works with a wide range of families, individuals, trustees, and those in the private wealth advisory sector. Each client is unique, but what they all share is the need for practical advice to enable them to plan for the future and tackle arising challenges. Matters range from the preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney, Domestic Trusts and Probate, to Income and Capital Tax planning. Internationally, they advise on residence and domicile planning and structuring both inbound and outbound.

As a Solicitor or Associate, you will be working on:

  • Estate and asset protection planning;
  • Drafting wills including tax efficient wills and those incorporating trusts;
  • Creation of onshore trusts including drafting and advising;
  • Probate planning and estate administration;
  • Powers of attorney;
  • Court of Protection matters;
  • Pro-active participation in marketing initiatives;
  • Efficient file management skills and ensuring files are managed in compliance with Lexcel procedures;
  • Participating in firm-wide and departmental training sessions;
  • Training and development of junior legal staff.

About you

As a conscientious and motivated Private Client/Wealth Solicitor or Associate, you take pride in delivering exceptional client service, with proven ability to take on responsibility and manage files with a degree of independence where appropriate.

You will be:

  • A qualified solicitor (SRA or CILEx with licence to practise in the UK) with at least 1 year’s PQE in private client work, though NQs with relevant pre-qualifying experience will also be considered;
  • STEP member or willing to undertake and complete the STEP qualification;
  • Technically skilled with a focus on further developing and expanding your knowledge and experience over time;
  • Client focussed, with good client management experience and an appreciation of the financial disciplines required to be a successful fee earner;
  • Interested in business development, marketing and broader networking;
  • Experienced in prioritising work effectively to meet deadlines with flexibility and commitment;
  • A capable communicator across all formats;
  • A strong team player with an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels;
  • Personally credible, tenacious and thorough, being able to build lasting rapport with clients and colleagues;
  • A positive and proactive team members;
