Cathedral Appointments is proud to partner with a local, well respected, and welcoming law firm to recruit an experienced Private Client Lawyer to join their Exeter office. The firm has a distinct and supportive culture with a focus on delivering exceptional and personalised client service, where their people are encouraged to lead on client relationships. Owing to growth and the continuing volume of high-quality work being taken on by the department, the team are expanding and are seeking an experienced lawyer to join them.

About the role

Working within a busy, experienced, and collegiate Private Client Team, you will be given responsibility from the outset to work at the level of independence you feel comfortable with, whilst accessing supervision when you need it. You will be working directly with a varied caseload of Private Client work including preparing wills, administering estates and trusts, and Powers of Attorney. You will work with a wide range of clients, including farmers and landowners. The firm are proud to have adopted a progressive case management system which will support you in your day-to-day work with clients.

This firm will actively encourage you to engage in the training and mentoring of less experienced members in the department, providing mentoring and support to enable them to develop their skills and confidence with clients.

You will be joining a team which enjoys being actively engaged in business development and networking opportunities to raise the profile of the firm and the team, and you will be supported as you build your confidence to do this as needed.

If you do not already hold a STEP qualification, support will be made available to enable you to attain this standard.

About you

A fully qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive, you will have gained at least 1-2 years’ PQE within a reputable and varied Private Client team and be accustomed to working directly with private clients at all levels. With your experience, you will be used to managing conflicting deadlines, prioritising tasks, working to tight timescales, and effectively delegating or sharing work with colleagues where appropriate to ensure that work is done bat the right level, with every client receiving a first-class service, every time.

You are a capable communicator across all media and take pride in building rapport and establishing trusted relationships with your clients and colleagues alike. You enjoy delivering a great service whilst remaining commercial with your advice and are keen to develop your skills and knowledge over time. You recognise the importance of business development activities and are keen to support your team and play your part as you expand your networks and professional profile in the region.
