About the role
Based from the Taunton office, you will be undertaking (and building) a varied and interesting non-contentious client caseload which will include the administration of estates, wills, LPA, trust drafting, and tax planning. In addition, matters include succession planning for business owners, farmers/landowners and professionals, and larger estate administrations. In addition, you will seek to proactively develop the existing relationship with colleagues in Residential Property, promoting cross referrals into the Private Client team.
With your experience, you enjoy complex and varied work with clients of differing types and sizes and enjoy learning about their requirements and priorities. You may already have a following and/or referrer network which you will seek to integrate and grow within the firm.
Encouraging everyone to achieve their potential is part of the firm’s ethos and you will have the opportunity to supervise and develop less experienced members of the team. You’ll provide them with quality supervision and access to more complex work as their practice and confidence grows.
Being an active business developer is important and you will have a positive approach to networking with existing and potential referrers is important to continually open up opportunities for new instructions and collaborations will be important over time.
About you
As an experienced Private Client Solicitor, you take pride in delivering exceptional client service by listening and responding to their needs. You may be highly experienced with the potential to bring clients and your referrer network with you, but equally, you may be on the path to creating a following in time. You are confident in the technical advice you provide to colleagues and directly to clients, being able to consider and provide insightful and appropriate advice in each situation. You may be STEP qualified or in the process of gaining this and have proven expertise in wills, trusts, tax planning, and estate administration.
You are readily able to demonstrate your strong analytical and communication skills and you can work strategically with clients and as part of a team. Being resilient to work under pressure by organising yourself effectively, you will be able to meet deadlines as needed. You will possess proven rapport-building skills and you are tenacious, thorough, and attentive to detail whilst appreciating the 'bigger picture' for your clients, taking pride in the high standards of your work.

There is genuine scope to build a successful practice on existing foundations and with an active approach to business development across Devon and Somerset.
