About the firm

Cathedral Appointments is delighted to partner with an ambitious and collaborative national law firm whose lawyers focus on establishing trusted and expert business advisory relationships with their clients.  We’re seeking an experienced and qualified Pensions Lawyer to support the Employment and Corporate teams, working part time on a remote or hybrid basis.

About the role

Working on a highly flexible (part-time, remote or hybrid) basis as part of the Employment and Pensions Team, you will be supporting Corporate Team colleagues with pensions due diligence work relating to share and business acquisitions and advising on and negotiating pension warranties, indemnities, and disclosure, typically working on behalf of the purchaser. You will also be providing pensions advice on standalone matters such as scheme mergers, Pensions Regulator issues, benefit changes, windings up, as well as pensions scheme documentation.

You will act as the Employment Team pensions lead and have the unique opportunity to develop and build the firm's pension offering, including training and supervising the current team. The department has exciting plans to further develop in the future, meaning you will have the opportunity to grow into a senior role in line with the growth of the team.

The firm actively supports flexible hybrid working, with the option to be connected to the office nearest to you with the opportunity to work remotely as and when works for you. Equally, this role could suit a fully remote based arrangement, depending upon your preference. Regardless, you will benefit from being and active and engaged part of a motivated and welcoming team.

About You

You are an experienced Pensions Lawyer who is seeking to work flexibly with high quality clients in a expert and supportive team. You will be comfortable with a variety of pensions due diligence work relating to share and business acquisitions, and be used to working independently with clients of differing size and profile. Naturally solutions focussed, you will work with the Employment and Corporate teams, applying your positive and pragmatic approach to finding the right solutions in order to meet the client’s business needs.

This firm prides itself on its collaborative culture, so you will be encouraged to engage and support junior lawyers and trainees in your work, delegating and supervising tasks to ensure that work is done at the right level whilst allowing you to focus on more complex matters. Whether you choose to work fully remotely or as part of a hybrid arrangement, the team culture and support is important on a daily basis, and you will feel well connected to your colleagues and peers. You will be a strong communicator with good rapport building skills and the resilience to work under pressure by organising yourself effectively to meet deadlines as needed.
