Introduction/Job Overview: We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join a bespoke business in the heart of Exmoor. The Shared Services Team is currently made up of 25+  staff covering all aspects of finance, from day to day accounting to the preparation of group submissions and dealing with new acquisitions. 

As payroll specialist the role requires good technical payroll skills and knowledge of current pay regulations, including HMRC, Pension Regulator and Working Time legislation and guidance.  You will be responsible for processing in-house UK payrolls and liaising with overseas bureaus.

The role will be both home and office based, ideally you will be in the office for at least 2-3 days in the office with the rest of the time working from home so there's lots of flexibility for the right person!

 Responsibilities:

  • Processing an accurate, timely & compliant monthly payroll for payment via BACS
  • Managing and resolving issues relating to payroll production
  • Producing and sending all relevant payroll data to HMRC on a monthly basis and at Year End
  • Ensuring the companies are compliant with Work Place Pensions legislation.  Producing information required for assessing employees’ eligibility and ensuring employees are informed of any changes to their status.
  • Ensuring the pension provider is informed of payments due and accurate payments are made
  • Providing detailed payroll information in excel format.
  • Ensuring payroll information and HR data matches
  • Liaising with the HR department for information on starters and leavers
  • Ensuring payroll data is stored in accordance with Data Protection regulation
  • Ensuring the company keeps up to date with changes in payroll legislation
  • Implementing payroll processes and procedures, to make sure we are running in a slick and time efficient manner. 
  • Develop effective working practices and relationships across the Group to ensure an efficient payroll and purchase ledger service
  • Work effectively as part of the Finance Team to ensure work is prioritised and completed to deadlines

Requirements:

  • To have up to date knowledge of legislation in relation to payroll and pensions
  • CIPP Technician level qualification
  • Excellent payroll experience and knowledge; payroll experience through the COVID pandemic highly desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • A desire to do the job in a timely and meticulous manner

This position is based in beautiful, and the unique location of Exmoor so driving and own transport are essential.  You may be required to travel to other sites within the Group.
