We are delighted to be partnering with an ambitious, full service, UK Top 50 national law firm with exciting growth plans for its Bristol office. They advise businesses, government and public sector organisations and individuals in the UK and internationally across four principal practice groups: Property, Corporate Services, Litigation and Private Client Advisory. The firm is motivated to grow a substantial partner-led offering from its Bristol base, having already attracted several leading lawyers from across the region.
As a Partner or Legal Director in Private Client Advisory in Bristol, you will be joining over 60 specialist lawyers, including fifteen partners across the firm’s office network. The team is justifiably proud of the strength and depth of its expertise, which ensures that they can deliver the level of service their clients have come to expect, encompassing technical quality, timeliness and commercially insightful, relevant and pragmatic advice.
About the role
This new opportunity is based in central Bristol and has a particular focus on working with the partners there to enhance and extend the firm’s presence in the region. As an established Private Client Partner or Legal Director, you will have gained considerable experience of acting as a trusted adviser to individuals, families, trustees, family or owner-run businesses and trust companies, both in the UK and potentially internationally too. You will appreciate the importance of fostering strong, trusted and sustained relationships with contacts and clients in order to provide practical advice and commercial solutions on the wide variety of tax, trust and estate planning situations that arise.
You will play a crucial role in providing expert legal advice and services to high-net-worth clients, including managing a portfolio of clients, offering guidance on succession planning, tax planning and estate management. You will be adept at maintaining and growing client relationships and be interested in supporting and contributing to the strategic direction and success of the firm.
Business development will be important to you, both in terms of external and internal sources. The Private Client Advisory team have developed a strong collaboration with the large, internal Agricultural team, advising farming families and Landed Estates on succession and tax planning.
About you
The firm is seeking to recruit an individual who has the drive and commitment to deliver continued growth and development of their Private Client practice and become an core senior member of the Bristol team. As an established Partner or experienced senior Lawyer seeking to step up, you will be expected to operate at a high level in terms of technical excellence, team development, client liaison and business development.
You’ll possess a proven track record of advising high net worth clients in all areas of private client advisory law, and take pride in the consistently high standards in your work. Previous experience in business development and potentially establishing a presence in new markets is important to our client as this is likely to support your long-term success.
You appreciate how best to work with clients to understand their priorities and preferences, applying your commercial insights and a pragmatic approach to each matter. Your client-focussed style will be important in supporting the team as they develop, giving clear, timely and practical legal advice on often complex and technical areas of law.
You are entrepreneurial, proactive and enthusiastic with proven specialist expertise in Private Client law. With a flair for developing strong relationships with clients, you are confident in your ability to advise directly on the more complex matters. You’ll also be accustomed to supporting and developing less experienced team members to become more independent, with active knowledge sharing and a supportive supervision style.
