Cathedral Appointments is looking for a Legal Assistant to join a global commercial business services provider in Yeovil. You will be working for an exciting company that supports large organisations with their compliance and legal services. This is a part-time, flexible position and full training will be provided. The successful candidate will work primarily from home but it is essential that you live within a commutable distance to the Yeovil office as you will be required to attend training sessions and meetings on a bi-weekly basis.

 

What will you be doing as a Legal Assistant?

  • Interpreting the Terms of Use in contracts for online trade journals and other publishers’ products, across a variety of different jurisdictions
  • You will be required to draw on your knowledge of copyright and contract law as well as having excellent research skills
  • You will create one-page summaries of the Terms of Use to help the customers’ employees understand how they can use content
  • You will communicate with a wide variety of publishers and customers to obtain contracts and assist customers in understanding summaries produced

 

Skills/Qualifications of a Legal Assistant:

  • This role would suit a qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive who is looking for part-time, flexible work, or an experienced Paralegal who is looking to work flexibly
  • You must have a Law degree or equivalent
  • A good understanding of Contract and IP Law
  • Able to work independently
  • Able to follow existing processes
  • You will be self-motivated and self-reliant
  • Reliable
  • High level of integrity
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills, with experience of Microsoft Office and specifically proficient with Excel
  • An understanding of international copyright law, particularly US law would be desirable but it is not essential

 

The Benefits:

  • £12-15 per hour- approximately 20 hours per week
  • Ability to primarily work from home- some office working will be required but this is flexible
