Our client is a respected charitable organisation based in Devon, dedicated to supporting children and young people with learning disabilities. Through a combination of residential, educational, and community services, they enable young individuals to live empowered and fulfilling lives. The finance function plays a vital role in ensuring these services are delivered with compliance, quality, and transparency. 

The Role: 

Due to an unexpected absence in the team, our client is urgently seeking an experienced Interim Finance Officer to step in and support the day-to-day running of the finance department. This is a hands-on role best suited to someone who is highly organised, confident with systems, and can work with limited supervision. You’ll be joining a collaborative and supportive environment where your impact will be felt immediately. 

4 months temporary contract with the potential to extend 
30 hours per week 

Responsibilities of the Finance Officer:  

  • Manage core finance processes including payroll, invoicing, and reporting 
  • Maintain accurate financial records in line with sector regulations 
  • Prepare and submit statutory funding and ILR returns 
  • Liaise with auditors and internal teams to support audits and funding compliance 

Requirements of the Finance Officer:  

  • Proven experience in finance, ideally within education or charity sectors 
  • Experience with submitting financial returns to the Department for Education (DfE) and Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) 
  • Confident using Sage 50 and Excel; Sage Intacct a bonus 
  • Self-starter with strong communication, accuracy, and time-management skills
