UP TO £32K DOE | FLEXIBLE HOURS | EXETER

We are looking for an HR Generalist for our client based in Exeter. As the HR Generalist, you will assume day-to-day co-ordination of our HR function and support the volunteer population.

This role offers up to 35 hours per week, with flexible start and finish times.

HR Generalist responsibilities include: -

  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR matters, providing advice on HR processes and referring complex issues to the Chief Operating Officer. Liaise with external HR/Employment Law advisers as needed.
  • Manage recruitment administration, ensuring compliance with safer recruitment practices, and process all new starters, including reference requests, DBS checks, employment contracts, handbooks, and inductions.
  • Maintain employee personnel files in compliance with GDPR, and coordinate core HR processes such as contractual changes, pay reviews, and resignations. Support managers with absence management, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Support and manage all aspects of disciplinaries, grievances, and employee relations. Develop, implement, and monitor volunteering strategies and policies, ensuring diversity and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Train, develop, and support staff and volunteer coordinators, manage the volunteering budget, and stay informed about trends in the voluntary sector. Coordinate PDRs for volunteers and ensure best practices are followed

HR Administrator requirements include: -

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, multitasking abilities, and a background in administration and customer service, with CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent) qualifications
  • Experience with managing volunteers is advantageous; robust, resilient, able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, with a flexible attitude towards work and hours
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, capable of working in a confidential environment, and demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Team player with an understanding of the voluntary sector being desirable, and able to work independently or collaboratively.
