About the role

Joining this successful and reputable law firm based in Exmouth, you will be undertaking fee earning work focussed on dispute resolution matters relating to:

  • Residential Property
  • Landlord & Tenant
  • Commercial disputes

You’ll think commercially about your clients needs and preferences and work proactively to find the right solutions for them. The firm is seeking someone to build out the Dispute Resolution team over time and be part of the succession plan for the firm more broadly. As such, you will be a competent and confident business developer with an interest in networking and connecting with potential business contacts in the region.

You will be responsible for running your own varied caseload, taking instructions, and dealing directly with client queries over the phone and in person. You will be comfortable liaising with clients, stakeholders and third parties. You will also:

  • Undertake necessary pre-action litigation
  • Draft and prepare proceedings, schedule of loss, pleadings, witness statement and necessary court documents as required
  • Prepare, advise, and draft necessary documents for applications

About you

As a UK qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive, you have a proven knowledge and experience of the law and practice relating to Civil Litigation and the obligations of the Civil Procedure Rules. With several years’ PQE, and experience working as a litigator in a local or regional firm, you are comfortable working on complex matters with relative independence but know when to ask for support or assistance from colleagues and partners. You possess a good manner with clients and colleagues alike, being professional, perceptive, and calm under pressure when working to deadlines and prioritising your time. You will be keen to bring your insights and ideas to your new firm and contribute towards the collegiate and collaborative environment this firm proudly offers.
