Our client, a well-established law firm with multiple offices across the South West, requires an experienced Construction Litigation Solicitor (2-3 years PQE) to join their Exeter office on a full-time, permanent basis. As part of the Construction and Infrastructure team, you will play an integral part in a variety of matters, including dispute work involving claims relating to professional negligence, advice on contract management, and dispute mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities include: -

  • Reporting directly to the Partners, together with one of the Senior Associates, you will play an integral part in a variety of matters, with a focus on contentious construction and infrastructure work
  • Construction & infrastructure related dispute work involving court litigation, adjudications, arbitrations, mediations, and other forms of ADR
  • Deal with disputes over payment, delays and defects, and claims relating to professional negligence
  • Provide advice on contract management and dispute mitigation strategies
  • Workload will be across a wide range of construction projects/sectors, including commercial development, renewable energy, residential, operation/maintenance/service contracts, and facilities management

Requirements: -

  • Good level of experience of advising on construction disputes, including experience of the court litigation process – training will be provided on any specialist areas which are new to you
  • Enthusiastic to expand your skills and knowledge
  • Ability to form strong client relationships
  • An excellent communicator with proven technical and organisational skills
  • A cooperative team player
  • Accustomed to providing accessible, commercially focused, and pragmatic advice to clients and working under pressure to meet deadlines
  • A firm grounding in contentious practice within a construction and/or infrastructure context, although candidates with clear and transferrable skills and experience gained from more general commercial dispute resolution will be considered
  • A sharp eye for detail
