An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a well-established business, based in Exeter as Assistant Investment Manager. The main purpose of the role is to assist the Investment Director and other members of the team in the construction and maintenance of a range of model and bespoke portfolios for the firm’s clients. The successful candidate will ideally be working towards Level 4 CISI Certificate in Investment Management.

This role involves flexible working from home with some travel to the office after the summer.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the existing investment managers with macro data analysis
  • Assist in the fund research, due diligence and scoring process
  • Contribute to Macro Research and Fund Research meetings
  • Liaise and attend meetings with external fund managers
  • Assist in the regular monitoring of both model and bespoke client portfolios
  • Maintain investment process documentation
  • Oversee the storage of fund research on internal systems
  • Develop and maintain marketing proposition and literature - to include portfolio fact sheets, peer comparisons and social media presence / web updates
  • Assist with administration and documentation of meetings
  • Help to prepare market commentaries for the wider firm and client reporting
  • Conduct DFM performance analysis - to include MIFID II 10% fall reporting
  • Provide investment advice and reporting to close link firms and their clients (to include a range of advisory model portfolios)
  • Assist Investment Director with risk management framework, due diligence requests and regulatory returns
  • Oversee DFM valuation reports with investment administrator
  • Assist Finance Manager with company ICAAP assessment data requests

Requirements:

  • Strong attention to detail is key
  • Demonstrate practical awareness of the macro environment, balanced against a need to maintain a long-term portfolio outlook
  • Knowledge of retail financial products and current regulatory expectations
  • Deliver effective and positive communication
  • Demonstrate excellent IT skills and competent use of research tools
  • Analytical, with experience in working under pressure in a sensible manner to solve tasks
  • Possess excellent organisational and time management skills
  • A positive and proactive approach to work and a desire to help and support the wider team
  • Calm and considered outlook to problem solving
  • A commercial awareness, with an appreciation of the impact of strong and robust processes on the profitability and risk mitigation of the business
  • Be actively studying towards Level 4 CISI Certificate in Investment Management
