An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Manager to join a successful award-winning Artisan soft-drinks business based in South Devon.  Working across the board with the various departments, this is a critical role in a fast-paced dynamic environment.  It is the owner and custodian of the brand’s high-quality attributes.

Responsibilities include: -  

  • Ensure the operational process and production of finished goods are appropriately controlled, via HACCP, to ensure compliance with food safety and customer standards.
  • Ensure that technical governance is in place to deliver audit compliance with respect to internal, external, legal and customer requirements.
  • Facilitate and take ownership of non-conformances from processes, customer specifications, and customer complaints, including investigation and resolution.
  • Monitor departmental KPIs and develop a quality culture to ensure targets are achieved and standards and continuously improved.
  • Provide leadership and direction across the function.
  • Review and make recommendations on SOP’s.
  • Lead and engage with customers as appropriate.
  • Management and reporting of sampling and testing.
  • Manage project-related work in line with plans and effectively communicate throughout.

The ideal Technical Manager will have: -

  • Degree educated in food science or in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience of working in the food industry as a Technical Manager. 
  • 3-5 years experience at a similar level in food manufacturing. 
  • HACCP level 3 minimum – level 4 desirable.
  • Man-management experience including managing employment relations. 
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Experience in managing Salsa and Soil Association audits. 
  • Good working knowledge of Salsa including food safety culture.
