Summary:

Our client, a dynamic and forward-thinking Manufacturing firm, is looking to recruit an Innovation Engineer on a full-time, permanent basis. Based in the beautiful Southwestern location of Barnstaple, the successful Innovation Engineer will undertake duties such as bringing to life ground-breaking prototypes and selecting appropriate materials for product specifications. The chosen candidate will have a Degree or Higher National Diploma in the Mechanical Engineering and/or design field. The aspiring Innovation Engineer should also be proactive in their approach to work and possess strong attention to detail.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking the research and design of products from the beginning brief to the ultimate practical solution.
  • Handling the calculations which influence product performance criteria.
  • Providing technical support for new products and materials on both an internal and an external basis.
  • Choosing appropriate materials which fit the desired product specifications and assisting in vendor selection and evaluation.
  • Coming up with concepts which are a good fit with the company’s ideals and values.
  • Conducting relevant research on developments within areas such as product design, standards, legislation, trends and technology and assessing the benefit of these developments to the organisation.
  • Developing relevant specifications which could be easily introduced into the manufacture of new or existing products.

 

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Somebody who is qualified to Degree/HND level in Mechanical Engineering and/or Design.
  • Someone with prior experience within the valve manufacturing industry or within the Oil & Gas and Chemical Process Industries.
  • Experience within the technology sector.
  • A candidate with design engineering experience is desirable.
