GRADE D UP TO £22k DOE | GOVERNMENT PENSION SCHEME| 37 HRS PER WEEK 52 WEEKS A YEAR

Are you looking for a new position within a growing Educational Trust, within Ivybridge, where you can utilise your HR skills? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you! As a HR Assistant you will contributes to the provision of a high quality, competitive, commercially aware and cost-effective HR service across the Trust, contributing to the continuous improvement of people management policies and practices, which support the delivery of the Trust’s strategic aims. The HR Assistant/Officer will be responsible for the full range of contractual administrative and payroll/pension-related tasks and will oversee the development of the HR Administrator (Apprentice) to their full potential to enable their successful transition to HR Assistant. The postholder will be supported to develop their own professional practice at HR Officer level.

HR Assistant responsibilities include: -

  • Responsible for providing a HR administration and payroll service to the Core Services Team, acting with the HR Administrator as a point of contact for contractual, payroll, pension, and HR administrative practice queries.
  • Provide first line responses to routine HR queries via the telephone and email helpline and triage/escalate less routine or complex enquiries.
  • Leading on Core Services recruitment and selection processes; developing job descriptions and suitable advertisements, designing and overseeing campaigns; engaging shortlisting and interview panels and providing a full administration service from the point of advert through to appointment and onboarding.
  • Co-ordinating the Trust redeployment process
  • Work with the guidance and support of the HR Business Partners, HR Advisors and the Systems and Data Officer to develop employee relations practice to provide advice and support on the routine aspects of a broad range of employee relations matters including sickness absence, flexible working requests, conduct, performance, grievance, TUPE, pay and grading ,redundancy and redeployment; helping to ensure timely progression of queries and cases in line with Trust policies, employment legislation and best practice guidance.

HR Assistant requirements include: -

  • Active CIPD membership (Associate or above) (Essential)
  • CIPD Level 3 or 5, or working towards with equivalent demonstrable experience (Essential)
  • Level of education equivalent to five passes at GCSE (levels 9 to4)/NVQ 2 or demonstrable relevant experience showing clear evidence of excellent numeracy and literacy (Essential)
  • Good working knowledge of HR systems, preferably iTrent or other similar payroll and management reporting systems
  • Demonstrable good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages in particular Word & Excel
  • Enthusiasm teamed with taking ownership of managing your workload.
  • Being comfortable accepting instructions and guidance from different angles
  • Excellent proven organisational skills and can prioritise work effectively and meet deadlines
  • The ability to multi-task and be effective under pressure
