A brand new opportunity has arisen for a Finance Director to join a high-profile charity, based in Exeter, on a part-time basis for a period of 6 months. The main purpose of the role is to lead the provision of strategic and financial guidance, ensuring that the charity’s financial commitments are met. This will include leading/managing the Finance Team, developing all necessary policies and procedures in Finance and Procurement, and managing spend/maximising commercial opportunities. The successful candidate will be CCAB qualified with experience of working at Finance Director level or equivalent.

Responsibilities include: -

  • Lead and manage the Finance Team, including procurement ensuring they have the capability, resources and professional development to deliver operational objectives arising from strategic plans
  • Membership of Senior Management Team with shared corporate, operational decision-making responsibility to ensure the charity is well led by its senior team on a day-to-day basis
  • Provide specialist professional and technical advice to ensure compliance with all relevant UK financial regulations and other financial or commercially related requirements
  • Lead development of reports, analysis and evaluation for presentation at the Board and its sub-Committees as required in order to provide assurance that strategic plans are on track and to demonstrate mitigation is in place for any identified risks
  • Ensure robust budget planning and monitoring of income and expenditure and the appropriate devolution of specific budgets to team leaders
  • Formulate strong and tailored management information and value added analysis to support effective decisions by the Senior Management Team and the Board

Requirements: -

  • Qualified accountant (CCAB Qualified) with experience of working at Finance Director level or equivalent
  • Extensive experience of operating at a senior level as a finance professional, communicating financial information to a wide audience and managing diverse teams
  • Strong evidence of well-developed commercial acumen, and success
  • Advanced knowledge of VAT, HMRC, payroll regulations and statutory accounts requirements
  • A proven ability to drive innovation and deliver transformational change
  • Very strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and used to working in a senior management team
  • Ability to travel between sites and to other locations
