Experienced and motivated Equity Release Solicitor/ Legal Executive (3+ years PQE) required for a well-established law firm on a full-time, permanent basis. As part of the busy Equity Release Team you will report directly to the Partner and handle a range of equity release transactions with the assistance of the Head of Operations for Equity Release and a team of Supervisors, Assistants and Trainees. This role is based in the Exeter office.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet with clients to sign equity release papers
  • Prepare transfer deeds and supporting papers for a transfer of equity
  • Review unregistered deeds and create ROT
  • Compliance, or removal, of restrictions on titles
  • Answer queries raised by the lender's solicitors on the title
  • Land Registry applications
  • Prepare Deed of Variations for Solar Panel Lease amendments
  • Prepare Deed of Variations for ground rent Lease amendments
  • Preparation and submission of bespoke undertakings
  • Inland Revenue SDLT knowledge required
  • Indemnity policy knowledge
  • Adverse possession applications, statement of truth

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years' experience of working across a range of residential property transactions
  • Prior knowledge or direct experience of the Equity Release process would be helpful but not essential as training will be provided
  • Some knowledge of trusts and probate work could be advantageous but is not essential
  • An effective communicator
  • Confident in your ability to build new relationships, and supervise, train and develop less experienced members of the team
  • You will excel at gaining the confidence of the clients you are working with, and handle their matters with empathy and sensitivity
  • A natural 'people person', you will possess the ability to develop immediate rapport with clients who may, at times, need careful guidance and support through the equity release process, and you'll show a genuine trustworthiness and commitment to their care
  • Work well under pressure and able to meet tight deadlines
  • An eye for detail
  • A positive approach to problem solving
