Summary:

Cathedral Appointments is on the lookout for a Compliance Solicitor to join a well-respected, supportive Family Law Firm on a full-time, permanent basis. You will be joining one of the strongest teams of Family Lawyers in the South West, taking responsibility for Quality and Compliance with a view to becoming COLP within 12 months of your start date. You should be a qualified Solicitor with over 10 years’ PQE, although less PQE will be considered for the right candidate. This is a non-fee earning role.

This role will be office based in Exeter, in close proximity to several amenities and free onsite parking.

What will you be doing?

  • Overseeing Quality and Compliance initially assisting COLP, but with an ambition to becoming COLP within 12 months of joining the team.
  • Supervising Trainee Solicitors, Legal Executives and Paralegals and ensuring all obtain appropriate CPD.
  • Updating office manuals, implementing procedures and providing training in connection with the changes made.
  • Sharing responsibility with the HR manager with regards to induction on compliance matters as well as overseeing joiners during their probationary periods.
  • Dealing with all complaints and appeals to the Managing Director of the firm.
  • Maintaining compliance registers and undertaking risk and compliance reviews.
  • Aiding in the improvement of the firm’s IT infrastructure.

Who are we looking for?

  • You should be a qualified Solicitor with over 10 years’ PQE, which should have ideally been gained within a similar role
  • You may currently be working in private practice in a fee earning role with the desire to move into a non-fee earning position
  • Ideally, you will have previous experience working within a Corporate/Legal 500 law firm
  • Prior knowledge of Family law would be advantageous but this is not essential
  • A meticulous approach to working with a keen eye for detail.
