An exciting new vacancy for a Commercial Assistant has become available with our client, an award-winning business based in Barnstaple. This is a varied and dynamic role, and you will assist with purchase orders, stock, sales, and range performance reporting, as well as liaising with suppliers and freight forwarders to ensure timely and accurate stock deliveries. The successful candidate will have proficient IT skills, a sharp eye for detail, and strong interpersonal skills.

This is a full-time, permanent role and you will have the opportunity to develop and grow within the team.

Responsibilities include: -

  • Place replenishment purchase orders, ensuring that stock and availability targets are met
  • Assist the Merchandiser with the preparation of insightful stock, sales, and range performance reporting in line with agreed timescales
  • Communicate with the international supplier base daily to ensure the timely, accurate delivery of stocks to the business
  • Maintain the stock control system with accurate stock records and stock movements
  • Assist with code creation and maintaining accurate pricing and supplier data
  • Assist with stock importing, working with freight forwarders to ensure accurate clearance and delivery to both UK and international destinations
  • Receive stock deliveries from suppliers, check off against invoice, and put away stock accurately
  • Review the received stock and ensure it meets the brand standards and passes the company’s QC checks
  • Assist the New Product Development manager with new product launches across multiple ranges
  • Process customer returns and arrange for credits or replacements to be sent as per company guidelines
  • Work closely with other departments in the business, Design, Marketing, Sales, maintaining a collaborative approach to work and ensuring that all ranges and promotions are in line with business strategy and aligned with brand values
  • Assist with catalogue production, price files, proofing etc
  • Support the business with other product-related tasks as directed by the Merchandiser

Requirements: -

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and presentation software
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Highly organised with a keen eye for detail
  • Good attitude toward teamwork as well as the ability to work independently
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise, and work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent time management
