Our client, a successful accountancy firm with multiple offices across the South West, requires an Assistant Manager to join their Client Services team on a full-time, permanent basis. The main purpose of the role is to oversee the preparation of annual accounts, run a varied portfolio of non-audit clients, work closely with the management group and partners to ensure clients' needs are met, and supervise junior staff and support them as appropriate. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking for their first management position. To be considered for this position you will need to be ACA/ACCA or AAT qualified.

Responsibilities include: -

  • Run a varied portfolio of non-audit clients, across a range of industry sectors, including sole traders, partnerships/ LLPs, and limited companies
  • Work closely with the management group and partners to ensure client needs are met
  • Oversee the preparation of annual accounts, corporation tax computations and personal self-assessment income tax returns
  • Oversee the provision of book-keeping and VAT compliance services
  • Identify financial, commercial and tax planning opportunities for clients
  • Provide routine tax, accounting and general commercial advice to clients
  • Resolve accounting and tax problems as they arise
  • Ensure that working papers, financial statements, tax returns and client files are prepared in accordance with the firm’s accepted standards
  • Supervise junior staff, and support them as appropriate

Requirements: -

  • An experienced qualified professional – ACA/ACCA or AAT
  • Good technical accounting and tax knowledge at the level needed to provide sound advice of a non-specialist nature
  • Enthusiastic self-starter, who enjoys new client activity and the opportunity to progress career to higher levels
  • Personable and approachable to clients
  • Flexible and committed to complete work to deadlines
  • Knowledge of cloud accounting software packages (e.g. Sage, QBO, Xero, etc.)
